Krizmah Bags
Krizmah is one of the top-notch names of handmade bags which have emerged on the fashion scenario with multi designer boutique both in Karachi and Lahore. The owners of Krizmah label are Zainabul Mulk (a graphic designer located at Lahore and from the Katur dynasty of Chitral) and Nadia Malik (a graphic designer from Lahore). An interesting thing in this label is that the ladies of Chitral are participating in the making and grooming of hand bags. Krizmah bags have conducted successful exhibitions in Lahore, London, Singapore, and Islamabad which encouraged Nadia and Zainab to find a place to stock their handmade bags. In an interview, Zainab Alam unfolded the beginning of her idea of making handmade bags: “ The real credit goes to the women of Chitral who would badger me to give them designs to embroider, every time I visited the valley. Since I speak the native Chitrali language, Khowar, I spoke to them about their embroidery techniques and later Nadia and I came up with the idea of doing a line of bags and wallets that represented Chitral and its culture. The first embroidery designs were given out in the summer of 2010 and in April 2011, we had our first exhibition” The handmade bags of Krizmah are a window to the glorious past and each bag has a tale behind it. To quote, Joshi Bag denotes the annual spring festival of the people of Chitral in the mid of May. The Hashim Bigim Bag tells the story of the princess of Gilgit who was promised to marry the crown prince of Chitral and who underwent the torturous journey to reach her man of dreams. Therefore, it can safely be said that the Krizmah bags are not only bags, but the footprints of the history too. The philosophy of her work is the commemoration of the past, says Zainab: “I have always been engaged in creative pursuits such as making beautiful pieces of clay pottery or working on graphics. I was drawn to the idea of developing a product out of Chitral because of my linkages with the area, and that’s where the concept of Krizmah emerged from”.   Have a look at Krizmah Bags Collection:
